Amazing facts about Apple

Below is a list of 14 amazing facts about Apple that is bound to draw your attention:

1. In early 2015, Apple became the first ever $700 billion company. More recently, Apple overtook Google as the most valuable brand in the world.

2. You might think of them only as fierce competitors, but Apple and Samsung have a different sort of relationship. Samsung actually manufactures the retina display on the Apple iPad and a portion of the memory chips used in the iPhone 6 (though Apple has cut back on its reliance on Samsung).

3. One of the original Apple computers sold for more than $387,000 in 2013.

4. Apple’s initial public offering was made on December 12, 1980. The company sold 4.6 million shares at a cost of $22 per share.

5. Apple used the capital from its initial public offering for the development of the Macintosh and Lisa.

6. The iPhone was almost named something else, with the company considering names such as Mobi, Telepod, and Tripod. The name “iPad” was also considered for its smartphone.

7. China is currently Apple’s second biggest market, trailing only the United States. Revenue in China grew to nearly $17 billion in the second quarter of 2015.

8. Despite the fact that he was the founder of the company, Steve Jobs was fired from Apple in 1985 at the tender age of 30.

9. Another fun facts is that Apple is pretty secretive. The Apple company is said to have created fake projects for employees and management to work on. If the news leaks, you can hit the road. They’ll know exactly who spilled the beans.

10. It cost $666.66 to build the first Apple computer. Despite the many conspiracy theories, it has not been proven that anybody at Apple worshipped the devil during production.

11. Apple CEO Tim Cook earned $9 million in 2014. A large number, for sure, but not when you consider that Apple is the most valuable company in the world.

12. The original Apple logo was designed by co-founder Ronald Wayne, who worked at Atari along with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, and is nothing like the one the company uses today.

13. Ronald Wayne, the forgotten Apple co-founder, sold his shares in the company in 1977 for $800. While he only owned 10 percent of the company at the time, in today’s world this would be worth tens of billions of dollars. He has noted that he does not regret this decision.

14. The revenue generated by Apple is more than the GDP of many countries, including Ecuador, Libya, and Iraq (among hundreds of others).

Some exotic creatures from US

Here are 9 animals you might not know are native to the U.S.

Ocelot

The ocelot is a small wild cat species, also called the dwarf leopard. It looks like a tiny jaguar or clouded leopard. Ocelots can grow as long as 3-4.75 feet from tip of nose to tip of tail, and can weigh anywhere from 20-40 pounds. The solitary cats are territorial, and they rely on thick vegetation for shelter and hunting.

The species is native to large swaths of South America, Central America, and up into North America as far as southern Texas. On rare occasions it has been spotted in southern Arizona. They once ranged even farther into the States, and were found as far east as Arkansas and Louisiana. But between habitat loss and being hunted for their fur, ocelot numbers plummeted and they were classified as vulnerable on the endangered species list until 1996.

Though they are now back to being an IUCN "least concern" species, they have not returned to portions of their former range in the States, and there is only an isolated population of perhaps 50 cats still living in Texas.

Collared peccary

This adorable mammal is not a feral pig, even though it is commonly mistaken for one. The collared peccary is in the family Tayassuidae (not Suidae from which domestic pigs come), and they are only somewhat related to pigs at all.

Still, they look similar enough that no one would blame you for a misidentification. In fact, they're also commonly called javelina, musk hogs and Mexican hogs — names that only confuse their classification. They are more slender and smaller than pigs, and have several anatomical differences from the number of toes on their hind feet (three instead of four) to the direction their tusks point (down instead of curled). Unlike pigs, peccaries are native to the Americas, and the collared peccary is found in South America, Central America and in North America as far up as the southwestern United States including Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.

Collared peccaries are omnivores and dine on everything from cactus to fruits, from roots and tubers to insects and even small vertebrates. They travel in small herds of around six to 10 individuals, but some herds can be as large as 50 members or more.

Ringtail

The ringtail (or ring-tailed cat, miner's cat or marv cat) looks like something you might find in the wilds of Australia, but you need look no further than the South, Southwest or West Coast of the U.S. to find them. Even though it's the state mammal of Arizona, this species is another surprising addition to this list.

The reason you may not often see them is because they're nocturnal, solitary, and shy away from humans. They're also tiny, weighing only 1-2 pounds and measuring about 2 feet long, with their tail making up about half that length.
For more: tiger facts

Despite being shy, the species is said to be easily tamed and this is the source of one of its names, the miner's cat. Though it is in the raccoon family and not a cat at all, miners and settlers used to keep them in their cabins to hunt mice, rats and other vermin. Though in many occasions, it was more a matter of ringtails moving in than the cabin owners bringing them in. Still, it was a mutually beneficial relationship.

Gulf Coast jaguarundi

The ocelot isn't the only surprising wild cat species found in the United States. Have you ever heard of the Gulf Coast jaguarundi? Not many people know that this species exists, let alone that it can be found in the U.S.

The Gulf Coast jaguarundi is one of four subspecies of jaguarundi, all of which are endangered. This is perhaps one of the more unusual-looking of the cat species, and it has been compared to an otter in its build because of its short legs, long body, and long flat tail, as well as its flat-ish head and small rounded ears. The coat color ranges from a rusty brown color to a dark grey, and varies depending on its preferred habitat — those individuals that live in more densely forested areas tend to be darker in color than those living in more open areas. This species is found in southern Texas down through to eastern Mexico.

Though it is endangered due primarily to habitat loss, the Gulf Coast jaguarundi is rarely studied and is not well understood. It is known, however, to be a close relative of the cougar. It is one of the many species whose continued existence is threatened by the proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Flying squirrel

There are 44 species of flying squirrel, most of which are found in Southeast Asia. But two of those species, the northern flying squirrel and southern flying squirrel are found right here in the U.S. They are the only two native flying squirrel species and they are equally adorable.

They are seen less often than tree squirrels because they are nocturnal. That's probably why so many people are surprised to learn that they are native to the States. The southern flying squirrel lives in the eastern U.S. from Maine to Florida and west from Minnesota south to Texas. Meanwhile, the northern flying squirrel lives mostly in the Northeast, down the West Coast, and in Idaho and Montana.

Flying squirrels don't actually fly — bats are the only mammal capable of flight — but they spread the extra skin along the sides of their bodies as they leap from tree to tree to extend the length of their leap. The strategy works wonderfully, and they can glide a distance of up to 150 feet! Both species are omnivores, eating seeds, nuts, fruit and insects. But the southern flying squirrel's diet includes eggs, carrion and even birds, making them one of the most carnivorous squirrel species.

Celebrates Tony Bennett's 90th Birthday

Legendary singer Tony Bennett celebrated his 90th birthday today with his good friend, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lady Gaga. The dynamic singing duo appeared together for an honorary lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building recognizing Bennett’s musical legacy, where Bennett told ABC News it’s been a great day.

“The whole experience is going to take me a long time to think about. And I just love every moment of what’s happening today,” Bennett said.

“She’s a great friend,” he added of Lady Gaga.

Bennett, his wife Susan -- who also attended the event -- Lady Gaga and a host of other big-name celebrities are expected to continue the celebration with a party later this evening at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Bennett has, of course, worked with the who’s who in the music business. When asked if there’s anything more he’d like to do that he hasn’t done, he quickly chimed in, “There’s plenty.”

But he added, that all of the things he’s done, this day is particularly special.

“This is a day I’ll never forget as long as I live. To be treated this way at 90 years old, I feel like I’m 19 years old. It’s a wonderful treat. It’s one of the very special things in my whole life,” said Bennett.

He looked back on all of his collaborations, but said there’s one singer that has stood out most. His favorite, the great Lena Horne.

“Well, Lena Horne was wonderful to me. We did a tour together for two-and-a-half years, two different specials that we did. And she was such a great artist and a great person,” Bennett said.

But there’s still one other singer out there he’d like to work with eventually. And his choice may not be much of a surprise to many.

“Beyonce,” said Bennett. “I understand she’s going be part of a gigantic special that’s being done about my life. So I’m looking forward to that.”

Bennett said he’s enjoying every minute of life doing the things he loves most.

“I paint every day. And I love life. I live right next to Central Park. And I love to paint in Central Park all the time. I love doing that as much as I love to sing,” he said.

And he clearly appreciates the love he’s received from fans.

"I’ve been very fortunate," Bennett said. "The public has been wonderful to me through my life. I’ve been sold out everywhere that I’ve played throughout my life. And they’ve been wonderful to me and I’ll never get over it because I’m accepted by the public."

United State Transfers 2 More Terrorist Suspects from Guantanamo

The front gate of Camp Delta is shown at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Station in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Review journal, the U.S. Defense Department says it has transferred two detainees from Guantanamo Bay to the custody of the Serbian government.

The U.S. State Department said both detainees, Tajik national Muhammadi Davlatov and Yemeni national Mansur Ahmad Saad al-Dayfi, were unanimously approved for transfer by six U.S. government departments and agencies

Authorities say the two men were at the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for about 14 years. Their departure leaves 76 men at the facility, a controversial detention center that President Barack Obama pledged to close during his time in office.

The latest transfers are part of a renewed push by Obama to decrease the number of prisoners at the base.

It comes one day after another Yemeni detainee at Guantanamo was sent to Italy. More than a dozen other detainees are expected to be resettled in other countries in the coming weeks.

U.S. State Department Secretary John Kerry thanked Serbia for its "generous assistance" in accepting the detainees. "This significant humanitarian gesture is consistent with Serbia's leadership on the global stage," he said.

Obama would like to send some of the inmates to the United States for incarceration, but Congress has opposed the measure.

Obama issued an executive order in 2009 aimed at the eventual closing of Guantanamo, which critics argue has housed hundreds of prisoners, some of them for years, without formal charges and without trial. His efforts have been strongly opposed by Republican lawmakers who have cited the potential security risks posed by closing the facility.

The administration of George W. Bush opened the prison at Guantanamo in 2002, shortly after the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan, to hold foreign fighters with suspected links to the Taliban or al-Qaida.

The New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights said Tajik national Davlatov had been approved for release in 2008 and was slated to be sent to Tajikstan. But it said Davlatov argued he faced risk of torture in his home country and won a court injunction against his transfer there. The center criticized the Obama administration for making "no meaningful efforts" to transfer him for years.

Apple's Mac No Longer Bucking PC Industry's Sales Slide

After defying industry trends in recent years, Apple is feeling the slowdown in global purchases of laptop and desktop computers, amazing facts of science

Apple shipped 4 to 8 percent fewer Mac computers during the second quarter of 2016, compared with a year earlier, according to new estimates from two research firms — even while some of its bigger rivals managed to find growth in the PC business.

Apple enjoyed steady increases in Mac sales for most of 2014 and 2015, while the rest of the PC market was in a slump. Although the leading PC-makers sell more units, Apple's Macs tend to command both higher prices and consumer loyalty.

But Apple Inc. has been reporting a dip in Mac unit sales since the end of last year, and estimates released Monday suggest that trend is continuing. Analysts estimate Apple shipped 4.4 million to 4.6 million Macs in the quarter ending June 30

PC sales overall have been declining for the last four years, as more consumers and businesses turn to smartphones and other gadgets. Global PC shipments fell to 62.4 million in the last quarter, down 4.5 percent from a year earlier, according to researchers at International Data Corp. Analysts at a second firm, Gartner, estimated that drop at 5.2 percent.

Lenovo, the world's biggest PC-maker, saw shipments fall more than 2 percent around the world, to 13.2 million, despite a strong showing in the United States.
Update latest new games coming out to you can download and play animals games

But HP, Dell and ASUS all increased their shipments during the last quarter, according to both research firms. Analysts said those companies benefited from a healthy U.S. market, consumer interest in new laptops running Google's Chrome software, and seasonal purchases by public agencies.

Microsoft's new Windows 10 software hasn't given PC sales much of a boost. Analysts say that could change in coming months, as the end of a promotional offer means consumers will no longer be able to upgrade older Windows machines for free.

Some Apple fans say an update for the popular MacBook Pro laptop is overdue, while the Cupertino, California, company has been promoting its iPad Pro tablet, which works with a detachable keyboard. Apple enjoyed eight consecutive quarters of year-on-year Mac sales increases before posting a 4 percent drop in units sold during the last three months of 2015. That was followed by a 12 percent drop in the first quarter of this year.

Macs are a small part of Apple's overall business, however, since the company makes most of its money from iPhones. Apple will report second-quarter sales on July 26.

Human - elephant coexistence - Elephant news

Latest news
With India’s growing economy and subsequent development encroaching on elephant habitat, people and elephants are forced to share space and resources. Human-elephant conflict threatens not only elephant populations, but also human lives and livelihoods. Each year in India, 400 people and more than 100 elephants are killed as a result of conflict. Elephant damage to crops and property only compounds the issue, with communities living in fear and often resorting to retaliatory measures to drive herds away.
Using innovative communication systems to enable human-elephant coexistence in southern India. Amazing facts for kids.

Ananda Kumar is a scientist with the Nature Conservation Foundation, India. He leads the Anamalai Elephant Programme which aims to reduce conflict and increase people’s tolerance of elephants across two different landscapes in the Western Ghats, home to the largest elephant populations in India. His programme began in the Anamalai hills, where 70,000 people’s livelihoods rely on tea and coffee plantations and human fatalities from accidental elephant encounters pose a serious threat. He is now expanding his work to include the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, a forest-farm landscape that supports subsistence farmers at risk of elephant crop damage. That is one of elephant facts that you should know.

In collaboration with government authorities, plantation companies, village councils and local communities, Ananda has set up an ‘Elephant Information Network’, which acts as an early warning system to help avoid surprise encounters, and foster coexistence. The system uses technology to alert people when elephants are nearby, via SMS, phone calls and mobile-operated light indicators, enabling people to take alternative routes and get to safety. By sharing real-time information on elephant locations, Ananda’s project is helping to save lives, whilst reducing the need for aggressive actions to scare away elephants that cause them significant stress. Online News Reportage - 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates' Is 'Astoundingly Sloppy' and 'Occasionally Hilarious'

Interesting Facts: If it is funny and interesting, it belongs here animal facts!

Loosely based on the story of Dave and Mike Stangle, the brothers who famously posted an ad on Craigslist looking for dates to their sister’s wedding, "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" stars Zac Efron as Dave and Adam Devine as Mike. In real life, the wedding was in Saratoga, New York, but this is a movie where everything based on a true story plays with the facts to serve the narrative, so the movie takes place in Hawaii. Also, Dave and Mike, at least in this movie, are somewhat moronic.

Dave and Mike have a history of destroying family affairs they attend. So during a meeting -- an intervention, really -- their family demands they take dates to their sister’s wedding, hoping to prevent the boys from hitting on the single women and possibly ruining a special day.

The brothers place an ad on Craigslist, which goes viral and they wind up on "The Wendy Williams Show," which is seen by unemployed besties and roommates Alice (Anna Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza). They decide they want a free trip to Hawaii and decide to charm the brothers into being their dates by lying. About everything.

Just for fun you can access here new games coming out to watch more funny video

Once in Hawaii, it’s not the brothers who wreak havoc, but Alice and Tatiana, which leads to a few terrific, twisted sight gags. It also allows the supporting cast to shine, particularly Sugar Lyn Beard as the bride, Jeanie Stangle, and Kumail Nanjiani as a masseuse who gives Jeanie a very special massage.

"Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" is filthy and, on occasion, hilarious, with a lot of funny people executing some terrific physical humor and a few inspired, shocking jokes. Then there are the shocking jokes that simply don’t land, coupled with incredibly shoddy production values. There were extras looking at the camera, continuity issues, and some insanely bad dialogue looping. It’s astoundingly sloppy, like something you might find in a student film, certainly not what you should find in a movie with talent of this caliber. If you are unable to find the topic you are interested in please access here amazing facts of science to learn more

Weird facts you can wanted to know about cats

Amazing facts of science - cats belong to the family called ‘Felidea’. Interestingly enough, the cat family split from the other mammals at least 40,000,000 years ago, making them one of the oldest mammalian families.

All cats share certain characteristics that are unique to the cat family.

Adult cats average about 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimetres) tall at the shoulder. Most cats weigh from 6 to 15 pounds (2.7 to 7 kilograms). Some cats weigh more than 20 pounds (9 kilograms).

Cats are natural hunting animals and have strong predatory instincts. Cats are built as a perfect hunting animal, they have powerful jaws, long sharp teeth and claws that retract back into their paws when not in use. Cats have acute hearing (more sensitive than a dogs or humans) and excellent eyesight that is adapted for dim vision, which enables them to hunt mainly after dusk and before dawn.

Most of a cats muscles are long, thin and flexible. They enable a cat to move with great ease and speed. Cats can run about 30 miles (48 kilometres) per hour. Unlike many animals, a cat walks by moving the front and rear legs on one side of its body at the same time and then the legs on the other side. As a result, a cat seems to glide.

You can tell a cats mood just by looking into its eyes. A frightened or excited cat will have large pupils, whereas an angry cat will have narrowed pupils. Both humans and cats have identical regions in the brain responsible for emotion.

Cat Diet

Cats are pure carnivores (meat-eaters) and require a lot of meat and a lot of protein in their diet, usually around 30%. Cats tend not to eat fruit and vegetables as they do not have an adequate digestive system to cope with that kind of food, although they occassionally chew grass to help with digestion. A good well-balanced diet is essential for your cats health. There is a wide range of cat foods available:
Fun Facts: If it is fun and interesting, it belongs here cat facts for kids !

Canned Food:
Canned cat foods are the most popular and contain all the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Most canned food comes in a variety of flavours, including, chicken, rabbit lamb, turkey, liver, salmon, tuna, cod and game. Canned foods are available in both gravy and jelly varieties.

Foil pouches and alu-trays:
Single serve packaging such as 100 gram foil pouches and alu-trays have become popular with cat owners due to their convenience and cost. Most cats will only eat 100 grams of food in one serving resulting in a lot of wastage when using the 400 gram canned food. Foil pouches come in many delicious flavours including duck, turkey, lamb, liver, chicken and rabbit. Gravy and jelly varieties are also available in foil pouches.

Dried Food:
Dried cat food is becoming increasingly popular. It contains all the vitamin and minerals necessary for a complete balanced diet. Water should always be available when feeding your cat dry food. Dry food can always be mixed with food in gravy for extra nutrients.

Treats:
Treats can provide an extra supplement to your cats diet and provide exercise for cats teeth and gums.

Fresh Food:
Fresh food can provide an extra source of nutrition. Cooked meat such as beef, lamb, turkey or chicken should be cooled before serving.

Dry food helps to clean the teeth and if nutritionally complete can be the bulk of the cats diet and it is easily stored. Although it must be refrigerated once opened, most cats enjoy the variety. Cats prefer their food at room temperature. Never feed your cat food that comes directly from the refrigerator. It is a good idea to take food out of the fridge around half an hour before serving to enable it to climatize to room temperature. Many cats cannot digest milk and develop diarrhoea when given cows milk. This can be particularly serious for kittens who become quickly dehydrated when suffering from diarrhoea. Cat milk is available in small plastic bottles. Always provide clean fresh water for your cat.

How much to feed your cat

Do not fill their plate. If you cannot feel your cats ribs, it is probably overweight and daily rations should be reduced. If you think you are feeding your cat adequate amounts of food, but it looks thin or loses weight, have it examined by a veterinarian. Loving owners often indulge their pets into obesity. Overweight pets have shorter life spans and are more prone to heart and respiratory problems and arthritic pain. Help your cat stay healthy by keeping it at its proper weight.

A kittens diet will be different from that of an adult and elderly cat. Generally a kitten should be fed little and often, whereas, an adult cat will need larger meals less frequently.

Cats will kill and eat small mammals, birds, fish, frogs, lizards and snakes. On farms, cats help reduce the vermin population (rats, mice, and other small, destructive animals). Cats use their acute sight and hearing to catch prey. Cats swallow large bites of meat without chewing it. Cats are primarily nocturnal (most active at night) because of their very good night vision.
